WANING MOON x GIANTS

A collaborations with Alcia Keys, Swizz Beatz , and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

Our original song “WANING MOON” was selected as the soundtrack for both the opening and closing promotions of Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz’s art exhibition “GIANTS.” We helped kick off the exhibition with a community activation featuring The Deans and the Broad Street Bullies.

To close out the exhibition, we partnered with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts to create an original music video filmed inside the gallery space. The video highlights the artwork while musicians appear throughout in a music-video style, grounding the piece in the local creative community and ending with a feeling of urgency and celebration rather than closure.

Below is a behind-the-scenes look at how we filmed the music video for our song “Waning Moon” at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Take a moment to check out our process and see how the project came together from start to finish.than closure.

Grammy Campaign - Mad Skillz 2024

In 2024, our client Mad Skillz was Grammy nominated for “Best Spoken Word Poetry Album” for his project “The Seven Number Ones”. We were tasked with directing a music video for Mad Skillz’s song “MUSIC”, documenting a private album listening party, conducting interviews for social media content, and directing “The 2024 Rap Up” music video. In total, our visuals received over 2 million views, and made appearances in noteworthy publications such as Complex, Rap Industry, Hot 97, and The Source Magazine to name a few.

RVA Community Makers 2023

2023 began with a commission by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, Virginia. Our goal was to bring our brand of storytelling and creative direction to the 2023 RVA Community Makers Project.

RVA Community Makers 2023, an annual community-activated art project, is back with its fifth edition, and this year’s honorees are Janine Bell, Gary Flowers, and Jackson Ward Collective. The project, presented annually by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and led by artist Hamilton Glass, is a public art project that celebrates African American leaders from various fields.

The theme of this year’s project is video storytelling, inspired by VMFA’s exhibition “Isaac Julien: Lessons of the Hour—Frederick Douglass”. Myles Brown has teamed up with VMFA to create a video interview showcase highlighting the impact made by our 2023 honorees. The video installation will be on display in Cochrane Atrium, where visitors can experience the stories of the honorees and how they use their talents and passions to make a difference in their communities.”
